Research

• I’ve produced some 70 scientific publications, many of which in renewed journals and international conferences (IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Springer, …), as well as two book chapters.

• An invention patent deposited.

• Supervised 13 PhD students, 23 masters and some bachelors.

• Keynote speaker in many scientific conferences: PAIS’2022, ICRAMI’2021, ICNAS’2019, ICEO’2013, SIRME’2013, JSS’2013, …

• Many collaborations with researchers in Canada, UK, Qatar, Algeria, Sweden, Oman, KSA and a strong network in many other countries : US, France, UAE, Australia, Morocco, Tunisia, ...

• In Ouargla, Algeria, I founded the Group of Applied Research in Computer GRAIN research team which brought together all the teachers of the department, and which subsequently became the multidisciplinary laboratory LINATI. I also founded and headed the Artificial intelligence and Data science team.

• In Trois-Rivières, Canada, I obtained several research grants: NSERC, FQRNT, etc., totaling more than $200,000.

 

Teaching

• I have taught about 15 different courses, mainly in 2 different universities and countries.

• The courses that I’ve taught most often are:

  • Masters level : Computer vision and pattern recognition, Data analysis (including a part of Machine learning), Information theory (applied to Cryptography and Data compression)

  • PhD level : Research methodology, seminars, writing workshops

  • Bachelor level : Data structures and algorithms in Java, Mathematics for computer scientists, Linear algebra, C and C++ Programming

  • Different levels : Project management.

• I’ve produced a course textbook in Computer vision and image processing

• In Ouargla, I chaired the committee which created a new Master’s in Artificial intelligence and Data science.

• In Trois-Rivières, I was a member of the committee responsible for the creation of a new doctoral program in computer science.

___________________ Achievements as a team leader and project manager ______________________

 

• I’ve taught theoretical project management courses many times in different universities: Management of time, quality, resources, HR, risks, … And then I had the opportunity to implement those concepts twice :

• In the Ministry of higher education and scientific research :

  • I’ve leaded a team of about 30 members, most of which are software developers. The team was responsible for designing and developing digital solution for the higher education nationwide, and ensuring the assistance for users. The solutions developed concern the schooling management information system, different platforms for the management of Human resources, Employees career, Research, Doctoral training, Medical training, Patrimony management. Tens of thousands of users have successfully used those solutions.

  • I was the main responsible for drawing the higher education digitization strategy, coordinating the digitization effort of more than 100 universities nationwide, accompanying those universities in the equipment acquisition process, improving the online learning facilities and systems.

• In the University :

  • I founded and leaded a 30-people research team for many years. The team includes faculty members, PhD students and masters.

  • I was the main organizer and General chair of two major scientific events : the 1st and 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology (100 to 250 participants), as well as many other small workshops.

  • I have launched a new master’s in AI and DS and a doctorate program in Computer vision.
